GEN AI in Education: Good practices for teachers – EUIPO Infographic

What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

Artificial Intelligence refers to programs or machines that simulate tasks that typically require human intelligence.

The Rise of GenAI

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is a new, powerful category of AI. This category includes Large Language Models (LLMs), as well as other models capable of generating text, code, images, video, or music.

The Rise of GenAI

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is a new, powerful category of AI. This category includes Large Language Models (LLMs), as well as other models capable of generating text, code, images, video, or music.

A key characteristic of GenAI is its ease of access: anyone can use these services simply by providing everyday instructions, without requiring programming skills.

LLMs, in particular, are trained on a massive volume of digital material, typically from the Internet, in order to predict the next word and produce a cohesive and convincing output that resembles human production.

Caution! Responsible Use is Key

While the integration of GenAI in education offers new possibilities, it brings to the forefront issues of ethics and copyright.

For the responsible use of GenAI in education, both educators and students must develop:

  1. Basic Knowledge and Common Understanding: It is essential to know how to interact with these new technologies with confidence, critical thinking, and safety.
  2. Focus on Copyright: Educators and students must be aware of GenAI and copyright. Teachers play a crucial role in helping their students avoid copyright infringement when using GenAI.
