On September 27, 28 and 29, 2024, the European Heritage Days (EHD), which are a joint action of the Council of Europe and the EU, in which Greece has participated since 1996 with the national coordinator of the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educators Programs of the Ministry of Culture, are celebrated.
EHD were officially established as a European programme by the Council of Europe in 1991, are supported by the Commission of the European Union, are dedicated to monuments and their conservation, and aim to raise public awareness of cultural heritage protection. Each country decides the theme of its celebration always with the aim of promoting both national and European cultural heritage.
The HCO is actively participating this year, as in 2023, in the celebration, organizing a scientific event entitled “The protection of cultural heritage from the perspective of copyright law”, which will take place on September 26, 2024 from 16:00 – 18:00 in the Numismatic Museum.
The event will feature the recent WIPO Toolkit on Preservation, by Dr. Christina Langer, Intellectual Property and Creative Industries Division, WIPO, and will be joined by guest speakers.
