The European Union Intellectual Property Office/EUIPO is organizing a webinar for training teachers on intellectual property (IP) in education on 21 June 2023. The event will focus on how to promote creativity, innovation and responsible digital behaviour among young Europeans.
The seminar will develop basic knowledge on intellectual property, as set out in the relevant EU framework of competences. Approaches for teaching IP concepts and related issues will be presented, as well as relevant materials for use in the classroom. A certificate of participation will be issued at the end of the seminar.
The webinar is addressed to practicing teachers of primary, secondary and tertiary education and the learning objectives for participants are as follows:
– to be able to understand the basic intellectual property rights,
– to become aware of the role that intellectual property plays in our daily lives,
– learn to respect the intellectual property rights held by others,
– understand that as creators, innovators and entrepreneurs, teachers need to be aware of the need to protect the results of their creativity,
– be able to identify which intellectual property rights offer the most appropriate protection in each situation.
