Organization of educational seminar in the city of Katerini for secondary degree educators

On Monday the 24th of February 2020, the Hellenic Copyright Organization (HCO) and the 3rd Regional educational planning centre (PEKES) of Central Macedonia, represented by the Coordinator of Educational Work Mr. A. Charisis,organized an educational seminar in Katerini with the title «Copyright and Related Rights. Applications in education and new technologies ».

The seminar took place in the Ekavi Municipal Hall, and was addressed to educators of the regions of Imathia, Pieria and Pella.

The seminar was organized in the framework of the implementation of the EU funded programme titled “Educating youngsters and secondary school teachers about copyright in Greece and Cyprus”. The programme is transnational and is funded by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The seminar was opened by Dr. Athanasios Charisis, Coordinator of Educational Work of Education for Sustainability, 3rd Regional educational planning centre (PEKES) of Central Macedonia, Mrs. Betty Skoufa, Parliament Member for Pieria, SYRIZA, Mr. Ioannis Beinas, representative of the mayor of Katerini, mr. K. Koukodimos and President of the Union of Theologists of Pieria, Mr. Dimitrios Syrianides, Head of K.E.S.Y. of Pieria, Mrs. Evangelia Boutskou, Coordinator of Educational Work PE70-of Teachers, 3rd Regional educational planning centre (PEKES) of Central Macedonia, Mr. Dimitrios Bouloumis, Appointive P.Y.S.D.E. of Pieria, Mrs. Eleni Dimitriadou, Head of School Activities, Directorate of Secondary Education of Imathia, Mrs. Katerina Papapostolou, educator, President of AMKE «Zo.E.S.», Mrs. Asimina Striba, President of Katerini Bar Association, Mr. Agelos Agelides, educator, President of the Authors’ Union of Pieria and Mrs. Lina Yamouzi, President of Association of Visual Artists of Pieria.

The educators who attended the seminar were informed by Mrs. Maria-Daphne Papadopoulou, Lawyer, Head of the HCO’s Legal Department and by Mrs. Eva Moustaka, jurist HCO, about copyright issues and the importance of the work of authors and performers. In addition to that, the application of copyright to education and new technologies was discussed. Finally, some useful material that can be used by educators as an aid in the classroom was presented.

Popular singer and President of Board of Directors of Collecting Management Organization ‘ERATO’, Manolis Famellos also participated in the panel. .

About 90 educators attended the seminar. Printed educational material was distributed to all the attendants.

HCO representatives answered the questions posed by the attendants in a Q&A section. Most questions were related to copyright issues in the educational work
